No. Effective April 1, 2005, government-funded physiotherapy services are no longer covered by OHIP.
In order to respect our clinicians’ time, we ask that you give us 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. We unfortunately cannot accept any last-minute cancellations, and you will be billed for the duration of your scheduled appointment should you need to cancel at the last minute.
No, you do not need a doctor’s referral. Some private health insurance companies do require a doctor’s referral to provide reimbursement. As every plan is different it is best to call your insurance provider and ask if a doctor’s referral is needed.
Wear loose-fitting clothing appropriate for the area being assessed along with any diagnostic information (X-ray/MRI/ultrasound reports or images) you may have done related to your injury.
Your first appointment is an initial assessment which is booked for 1 hour.
Your session will be unique because it is all about you and your needs. In general, here’s what happens:
• The therapist learns about your medical history.
• The therapist assesses your condition.
• You receive a treatment plan that sets goals for you.
• You are prescribed a course of exercises and any assistive devices needed.
There is no specific number of appointments that are required to be completed. Depending on the injury, some patients require more frequent appointments than others. Your therapist will recommend the duration and frequency of follow-up appointments optimal for your injury during the initial assessment.
